Co-creator of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 Establishes New Team

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz (director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) is preparing another dark fantasy RPG. The project is being developed at the newly established studio Rebel Wolves.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Konrad Tomaszkiewicz established his own studio together with several other former employees of CD Projekt RED;
  2. The first project for Rebel Wolves will be a big-budget dark fantasy RPG.

Official announcement of the fourth Witcher is unlikely to appear any time soon, but the director The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is preparing his own dark fantasy RPG together with a new team.

The man in question is Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who last year left CD Projekt RED due to a mobbing investigation. After that, the Pole founded his own team, called Rebel Wolves.

"Driven by a desire to build a passionate team dedicated to creating vibrant virtual worlds filled with powerful emotions and unique experiences, Konrad [Tomaszkiewicz] created a vision for the new studio that shares a common goal of doing things differently while putting the team first."

In addition to Tomaszkiewicz the studio will employ severalother creators connected with the third The Witcher, including Bartlomiej Gawel (art director of W3), Daniel Sadowski (project director of Witcher 1) and screenwriter Jakub Szamalek (who was also involved in work on Cyberpunk 2077 and Thronebreaker).

Rebel Wolves on video games: art, ambition and freedom

According to a statement on the studio's website, the team's ambition is to create "unforgettable stories and evoke deep emotions."

  1. Rebel Wolves' first project is to be a high-budget dark fantasy RPG powered by Unreal Engine 5.
  2. The title is to be the first part of a "saga". Artworks provided by the creators (posted below) suggest that we can expect the presence of non-human characters, including a vampire (the main protagonist?).
  3. Rebel Wolves also presented their philosophy of creating video games. According to the studio they are supposed to be "art". (which means they must have "ambition"), provide fun and be interactive (i.e. offer as much freedom as possible).
  4. In another place Jakub Szamalek assured that Rebel Wolves does not intend to follow "trends and numbers", but to focus on creating works that will be remembered.
