Rayman's Great Return Currently in Early Development. Team Behind Game Receives Support from Brand's Creator
Ubisoft confirmed that a new installment of the Rayman brand is in development. Series creator Michel Ancel is helping with it.
Yesterday we wrote about the disbandment of the team responsible for the excellent Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. This is bad news, but a small consolation is the fact that Ubisoft in fact did not lay off anyone - the developers were transferred to work on other projects. According to rumors, one of them will be a remake of the first part of the Rayman series. Now we know a little more about this production.
- Ubisoft did not explicitly state that a remake is in the works – the company only said that the team responsible for the game is currently "in the early stages of exploring the future of the Rayman brand."
- However, it should be noted that these are not just some general ideas or brainstorming. The publisher confirmed that this is an actual game developed jointly by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan studios.
Everything therefore indicates that the game is indeed being developed, but it is at such an early stage of work that Ubisoft cannot yet officially announce it.
Fans of the series should also be pleased that Michel Ancel, the father of the brand, is helping with the project. He left Ubisoft in 2020 amidst a minor scandal – the creator was accused of creating a toxic atmosphere within the team, which he denied.
In old interviews, Michel Ancel did not hide that he would like to develop a new Rayman and now he finally has the opportunity to do so.
Returning for a moment to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown - the game turned out to be one of the nicest surprises of the year and the people responsible for it know how to create outstanding platform games. They will be used to support the team creating the new Rayman so it seems like a very good decision.
Fans of the brand are currently very starved. The last installment of the series was Rayman Legends released in 2013. After 11 years, it's high time for this former Ubisoft mascot to finally return to us.
