PS5 Games Finally Coming to PlayStation Streaming
Sony is expected to expand the benefits of PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers soon. The Japanese giant is currently testing streaming of selected and supported titles from the PlayStation 5 console.
Sony has been developing a cloud-based game streaming service for many years and is still working on new features related to the technology. On the official blog of the Japanese giant, we can read about the start of tests of streaming games dedicated to the PlayStation 5 console.
Streaming PS5 games
"We are currently testing cloud streaming for supported PS5 games. The tests include titles from the PlayStation Plus and Game Trials catalogs, as well as selected digital PS5 titles owned by players. Once the feature is launched, cloud game streaming for supported titles will be available directly on the PS5 console," said Nick Maguire, vice president of global services, sales and business operations.
On Sony's consoles, we can already test the PS5's game streaming service on PC, Mac, and iOS and Android mobile devices via the Remote Play. However, in order to use it, users must first download the selected title to their console to then stream it to another device. The cloud gameplay feature will eliminate the need for downloads, thereby saving users a ton of time, as well as valuable disk space on the device.
The feature has been in development for many months, as evidenced by, for example, job offers associated with cloud technology. This is also indicated by a recent statement by PlayStation chief executive Jim Ryan, who mentioned the corporation's plans for cloud gaming.
For now, however, we do not know when to expect the feature, but it is possible that Sony will decide to make it available later this year. The company plans to add it to the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.
