Thanks to Redanian Intelligence, we've learned more about The Witcher anime in development. Netflix's show is expected to present the story of Jaskier's friend.
Netflix continues to work on expanding the universe of The Witcher. Among the projects currently in development is another anime, which this time is to focus on Essi Daven - a bard appearing in a short story by Andrzej Sapkowski A Little Sacrifice, published in Sword of Destiny.
We first heard about the project in 2021, and other than the announcement itself, we received no further details. However, the irreplaceable Redanian Intelligence reports, that the upcoming anime will be be titled The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, and its development is handled by Studio Mir, co-responsible for the well-received anime The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
It is also known who will provide the voice of Essi Daven. The main heroine will be played by Christina Wren, who starred with Henry Cavill in Man of Steel. It is worth recalling that the actress added a post on her Instagram profile a year ago from her audition for the role.
Geralt himself also appears in the aforementioned story, so fans might have suspected that Henry Cavill would also be involved in the project. Unfortunately, after he left the universe, this seems unlikely. Liam Hamsworth, who replaced Cavill in the original series, may have a better chance of being hired in this case.
Nothing is also known about the actor providing the voice of Jaskier. Joey Batey's participation in the making of the anime has not been confirmed. However, it is worth mentioning that Joseph Trapanese will be responsible for the music, who composed the soundtrack for season 2 of The Witcher.
Recall - season 3 of The Witcher will debut on Netflix on June 29, when the viewers will get access to first four episodes. More will hit the platform on July 27.
