CDP Reassures Investors: Project Sirius in Got a New 'Framework'
CD Projekt Red has addressed the status of Project Sirius, a new game set in the Witcher universe developed by The Molasses Flood. The information is meant to reassure investors.
Recently, the Internet has seen some rather disturbing news about an upcoming Witcher game codenamed Project Sirius. CD Projekt Red announced in March that production costs had been written off due to the need to "define a new framework" for the game - which may not have made the investors happy. From the latest report [in Polish] we learn an important thing regarding the fate of the game.
"The reversal of part of the write-down for 2022 and the write-down of the value of part of the development expenses in Q1 2023 is the result of adecision to continue the Project within a redefined framework and thus use a significant portion of the work completed to date in the further development of the game worked on by The Molasses Flood studio."
Project Sirius was therefore not completely rebooted - as it was interpreted at one time by some websites. We don't know what this "new framework" means, especially since we don't have much information about it. Until now, it was said that the game would offer a single player campaign, as well as multiplayer gameplay. It was supposed to be different from previous Witcher games and represent something conceptually new for the developers.
At this point, we are left to wait patiently for new official information about the game. Recall that Sirius is the responsibility of the American studio The Molasses Flood, which was acquired by CDP. The work on the game must be a challenge for the team - the studio's output to date is a mere two games: Drake Hollow and The Flame in the Flood.
