Fans of survival games have something to wait for, as Project Castaway PC release is right around the corner (information about consoles is in our separate guide). This new game will take you on the island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Your task is to gather food, build a shelter and discover numerous secrets of this mysterious place. Of course, many people enjoy playing such games with friends. If you are one of them, we will tell you all about multiplayer.

Project Castaway – Coop and Multiplayer Explained

Many people believe that survival games are better to experience with others. So, no wonder that questions about multiplayer, and more specifically coop, are often in the case of titles from this genre. Luckily, Project Castaway will have a coop mode; sadly, not as fast as you would like.

In the FAQ published on the official Discord channel, developers have answered that Project Castaway will feature multiplayer.

Will the game have multiplayer?

Yes, co-op is on our roadmap post launch.

As you can see, the information is not very detailed. However, there is also a posts on Steam with the answer from one of the developers.

No, we are launching in Early Access in one week without co-op, and we will continue its development towards the full release with co-op and console release.

So, if nothing changes, we can expect coop near full release of the game. According to Steam card, the early access is supposed to take around 1-2 years. The truth is that EA rarely takes less than what developers estimate, often even more; so, we may expect that 2 years of development are possible. In that case, we can expect multiplayer in 2026. Will it turn out to be true? We will see, as some things may go right, others wrong – creation of the game is not an easy process. Let’s be patient.
