Project Cars 3 Will Be More Like NFS Shift
CEO of Slightly Mad Games revealed a new direction for Project CARS 3 - the game will resemble NSF Shift.
Less than a month ago, Ian Bell, founder and CEO of Slightly Mad Studios, revealed that the team is working on Project CARS 3. Now, thanks to Bell's post on the GTPlanet forum, we learned first solid information about the new title. As it turns out, the studio plans to make the game a spiritual heir to Need for Speed Shift.
We went to insane lengths with variation in pCARS2 and with that comes infinite balancing issues. We’ve learned a lesson here and although we have no intention of reducing content, we know what we need to fix, where we made design decisions that were, let’s call it, ‘sub-optimal’…”, wrote Bell.
“pCARS3 will be more of a spiritual successor to Shift, but with all of the sim goodness everyone appreciates…
Need for Speed Shift was the first title created by the British company Slightly Mad Studios. The game was released in 2009 as another part of the iconic Need for Speed series, published continuously since 1994 by Electronic Arts. The production was continued with Shift 2: Unleashed. The collaboration between the companies ended when the cancellation of Shift 3 led Slightly Mad Studios to the brink of bankruptcy.
The first Project CARS was created with the participation of fans, who were given the opportunity to actively support the production through the World of Mass Development platform. The title was released in 2015 and a sequel was released two years later. The release date of Project CARS 3 is yet to be announced.
