Prince of Persia Returns as a VR Game
After many years of absence, the Prince of Persia series will live to see a new installment. Ubisoft announced Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time, which is being developed for VR arcades. During the cooperative game, players will have to solve a number of puzzles, using the magical powers of time manipulation.
At the beginning of January we reported of leaks about a new game from the Prince of Persia series, entitled Dark Babylon, to be released in 2021. The mysterious title remains in the realm of speculation for the time being, but whispers about the resurrection of the once popular series may be true. Ubisoft has just announced Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time, which may be the first step on this road. However, the production of the German Düsseldorf branch of the company is not designed for individual customers, but for professional VR arcades. The title is a virtual escape room, built for the cooperative fun of two, three or four players using virtual reality goggles.
The action of Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time takes place in the universe known from the Sands of Time trilogy (Sands of Time, Warrior Within, Two Thrones). The players are summoned before Caileena, empress of time. She asks the daredevils to solve a series of puzzles and riddles that stand in the way to open hourglass chamber, whose power they must use to stop the scheme of the dangerous mage. One of the participants of the game also receives a magical dagger, well known to the fans of the series, which enables us to rewind and stop time at wish. This mechanics, as well as cooperation within the team, will be the key to achieving victory. During the adventure, players will be able to move around freely, and even climb, exploring the multi-level Fortress of Time.
Last but not least, Ubisoft Düsseldorf has already published two other escape room games, created with virtual reality in mind. They were based on Assassin's Creed. In Escape The Lost Pyramid we tried to get out of a tomb, playing the role of archaeologists exploring the ancient Egyptian ruins on the Sinai Peninsula in 1928. In Beyond Medusa's Gate the players have one hour to escape from a huge cave, hidden on one of the islands in the Aegean Sea, where the ship of the legendary Argonauts is anchored.
