Prince of Persia Remake Not Coming Out This Year, Ubisoft Confirms
Removing pf Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake preorders from the offer of many stores forced Ubisoft to issue a statement, in which it assured that the project has not been canceled. However, we'll have to wait a long time for it.
Ubisoft has reassured Prince of Persia fans that work on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is still in progress. However, the game will not be released in fiscal year 2023 (that is, in the period from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023).
- The publisher made this announcement because many people feared that the project had been abandoned.
- The reason was that stores (including GameStop) stopped selling preorders.
- In fact, the stores decided to make this move because Ubisoft is unable to provide a planned release date. Those who pre-ordered the game were given the option to cancel.
Recall that the development cycle of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is extremely bumpy. The project was announced in September 2020 and initially it was to be released in January 2021. The game went through a series of successive delays until it was finally taken away from Ubisoft's Indian branch and handed over to Ubisoft Montreal.
The videos released so far have met with a cold reception. The fact that the launch is apparently quite far off suggests that the new team will be starting from scratch instead of trying to salvage what their colleagues from India have created. Such an approach would definitely work out well for the game.
The reason for the troubles of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is the incompetence of the management and inexperience of the game's director. If you want to know more about it, we recommend our earlier post:
