A new version of the Portal: Prelude, one of the biggest modifications to the first part of Valve;s popular puzzle game series, has been released.

The update of the mod is a pleasant surprise. After all, this is the first new version of this project in 14 years (the previous one was released in January 2009). Since then, a lot has changed - first of all, in the architecture of Steam, making the launch of Portal: Prelude cause considerable problems. Other modders prepared modifications, but they did not always work properly.

Now one author of the original has finally decided to adapt his work to modern requirements. By the way, he also implemented a ton of bug fixes, as well as removed several jokes that had aged poorly and did not fit the vibe of the whole story.

In keeping with the title, Portal: Prelude was conceived as a prequel to the first part of the series. The action takes place at a time when GlaDOS AI is just being developed, and experiments at Aparture Science are still supervised by humans. It's a tedious and tiring job, so the workers doing it can't wait to be replaced by AI. However, this impatience leads to unforeseen consequences, the victim of which is the player character, who is a volunteer testing the company's new inventions.

The mod is massive - it offers 19 test chambers and 48 challenges. Passing the campaign in the mod takes more time than completing the first Portal.

Portal debuted in October 2007 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and was later ported to Android mobile devices and Nintendo Switch. The mod is only available for the PC edition of the game.
