Pokémon GO Breaks Another Revenue Record

The universal frenzy about Pokemon GO is a thing of the past, but the game is earning more and more. The game's revenue has already exceeded 3.6 billion dollars, and the first half of 2020 was record-breaking.

The revenue from Pokemon GO continues to grow.

Many people have the wrong impression that Pokemon GO's best times are long gone. In fact, the game is doing better and better, as evidenced by the latest financial data.

According to the estimates of the Sensor Tower analytics group, in the first six months of this year, revenue from Pokemon GO amounted to $445 million. This is the best first half of the year in the game's history. Moreover, since 2017, the game has always recorded double-digit increases in the corresponding periods. During the first six months of 2020, the title earned 12% more than at the same time in 2019.

It may seem strange that the best first half of year in Pokemon GO's history was when, due to the coronavirus pandemic, people were encouraged to sit at home. Here, however, the quick reaction of the developers paid off. As early as mid-March, Niantic introduced changes to the game that made it easier for players to play without leaving our four walls.

We also learned that since its launch in July 2016, the game has generated $3.6 billion in revenue and has been downloaded over 566 million times. It is most popular in the United States, where it has already earned $1.3 billion. Android users account for 78.3% of the players, but they are only responsible for 53.6% of revenue, as the statistical player using this system spends much less than a typical iOS user.

The title remains the leader among AR games requiring users to physically travel around the real world. However, this category has finally got its second hit, Dragon Quest Walk, which has earned over 540 million dollars since its launch last year. The last place on the podium is occupied by Jurassic World Alive, whose revenues within two years since its debut amounted to 76.5 million dollars.
