Sony Acquires Nixxes Software; Bluepoint Emphasizes Its Independence
Another studio has joined the PlayStation family. This time it's the Dutch team at Nixxes Software, which is known for ports of games for various platforms. Meanwhile, Bluepoint Games very clearly announces its independence.
- Nixxes Software has joined the PlayStation family;
- It may be a sign of more ports from Sony's consoles coming to PC;
- Bluepoint Games dissociates from PlayStation and informs that it remains fully independent.
The PlayStation family has grown again. Just two days ago we informed that Housemarque, known from the recently released Returnal, is joining Sony's team. Now, Nixxes Software follows in its wake. The news was announced on Twitter by the head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst.
Nixxes Software is a Dutch studio that focuses on preparing ports of games for various platforms. The addition of such a company to the PlayStation team may indicate that Sony is getting more serious about investing in more PC versions of PlayStation games. At the beginning of June Hulst revealed that in the future we will be able to play more PlayStation titles on PC. However, this does not mean that these games will appear on both platforms at the same time.
Bluepoint Games, in turn, is a studio that strongly emphasizes that it is not associated with Sony. In the company's description on Twitter we can read that it is fully independent. This is most likely a response to the situation that occurred on the day of the announcement of Housemarque's acquisition. On that day, an announcement that Bluepoint was also joining the PlayStation family appeared online. However, this announcement was very quickly removed.
To this day, we don't know if it was just a mistake or if the agreement between the two companies was broken at the last moment. The background of this event will probably not be known anytime soon For now, all we know is that Bluepoint Games remains independent, and Nixxes Software has taken a place as Sony's partner.
