Sony „Slimmed Down” PlayStation 5 Digital
Documentation available on the web indicates that Sony will begin shipping a new version of the PlayStation 5 Digital console to stores at the end of this month. The changes made by the manufacturer are minimal, but have translated into reduced weight.
Anyone who follows the console market knows that the design of a console is not carved in stone. Over time, mainly for cost-saving reasons, manufacturers make minor modifications to components, rebuilding motherboards for example, or use electronic components from other companies, but without visible external changes to the device. It seems that PlayStation 5 will live to see first such revision. According to information from the documentation of Japanese online stores, later this month, a new variant of PlayStation 5 Digital will be available to buyers, designated as CFI-1100B01.
The upcoming revision of PS5 Digital will offer a slightly different way to install the console's feet in the vertical position - the manufacturer has changed the type of screw used for this, which thanks to the profiled head will now be screwed solidly without using a screwdriver or some flat, rigid object. But what is much more interesting, the device is also lighter than the previous version by up to 300 grams (weight decrease from 3.9 kg to 3.6 kg). It is not entirely clear where such a sizeable difference comes from, but it is suspected that it may be the result of using lighter cooling components (heatsinks and fans). The truth will be known only when one of the owners of the console decides to check its interior. The standard version of PS5 with an optical drive has not yet been changed in any way.
