Players Waited 7 Years For These Changes in Rust; Patch Testing Commences
Facepunch, the studio responsible for Rust, has introduced a long-awaited update to the game, improving among others the operation of firearms.
Many fans of the survival game Rust will long remember the date of June 2, 2022, because on that day the devs at Facepunch published the latest, long-awaited update to their game on Steam. As we can read on the official website of the studio, it is the biggest patch since the release of the game. The developers informed then that some changes may be controversial for the players, but they are necessary to improve the gameplay experience.
Rust - Combat Update in detail
The main issue emphasized by the developer, is the change concerning operation of weapons. As the studio explains, the original version of the mechanic was developed 7 years ago and has practically not been modified since then.
- Recoil system - used since the very premiere of Rust, it has been widely commented on by gamers. Probably as many people hated it as loved it. The studio decided to deal with this problem and level the playing field for casual players against professionals who have spent thousands of hours in the survival game.
- Sounds - the most noticeable (or rather, audible) change for fans will be the sound effects of most weapons, which have also been updated.
- View - another item on the list of improvements are the movement animations. There is now a noticeable difference in the character's gait, as well as a specific sway when looking around.
- Hit point - one of the pains of Rust was the lack of a marker, which would inform us from which direction the shot was fired. Also this issue was taken care of by Facepunch.
- Aimpoint - Facepunch has decided to add something that was sorely missing from their product, a crosshair sight displayed on the screen. From now on, aiming a gun will be much easier.
- Hapis Island - a large group of people will be happy to know that the June patch brings back the island of Hapis, which was disabled due to graphical problems.
- Other - other changes in the update include new craftable weapons, expanded magazines, a new train variant, and much, much more.
It is worth mentioning that the latest patch also fixes some elements introduced in the April update for the game..
The patch has whetted the appetites for Rust
Taking into account activity charts on Steam, the number of players has nearly doubled since the patch was introduced, with a peak of over 165,000. Therefore, it is easy to conclude that thirsty fans of the survival game from the Facepunch got down to testing the latest improvement.
Below we present a video released by the developer, showing the changes introduced in the game.
Unfortunately, so far the update is available only on PC. At the moment the studio has not informed when the patch will hit the console players.
At the end we remind that Rust is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
