Players Lose Tons of Gold as Bug Hits WoW Economy

WoW players are facing quite a problem. Auction House is not working as it should, many people can't buy items, and still others have been charged a lot of money.

World of Warcraft is currently facing a very serious bug that is already disrupting the game's economy. The situation is related to the Auction House, where players either can't buy certain items at all, or instead of buying a single piece... buy 100 at a time.

Auction House is down

The problem has been going on for about a week now, and began with patch 9.2.7. In it, the operation of the Auction House was changed, where now items needed for crafting or various types of consumer goods are available between servers within a single region.

After this change the number of posts in which players complained about problems related to the purchase of items on the market began to increase on WoW forums. Some of them can't buy the goods they need at all, while others, such as Atryk, were charged a 100 times the cost of what they wanted.

"A bug caused me to buy a missive of mastery worth 197,000 gold.

How is this possible? I tried to buy one and it automatically bought hundreds of them. Is there any way to undo this?

I don't use any Auction House add-ons and I can't find a way to report it in the game. It was most of my money and it's not fair."

"I can't even buy missive of mastery now. "This item is no longer available." They haven't even addressed this problem yet.... seriously?," wrote Market.

WoW players are most concerned about the economy. User Angrychair is one of the main contributors on the topic, who has repeatedly pointed out the challenge of rebuilding the game's economy from before the bug.

Many players believe that the best solution would be to close Auction House for a few days so that Blizzard can bring the situation under control without aggravating the crisis.

"[...] I and others have been talking about this all week. The longer this goes on, the more damage will be done, the more some people will benefit and others will be cheated, and the longer it will take for the economy to recover. Closing AH is the only way to stop this problem and mitigate further damage.

God forbid that token sales should suffer."

Blizzard knows about the bug

On Sunday, a message appeared on the Blizzard forums, in which we can read that the developers are aware of the problem. Its repair has been identified as a priority, and the relevant patch players was to released within 2 to 3 days.

And so it happened - on August 22 the game received a hotfix, meant to fix the bug. The problem is that WoW players are still reporting similar problems on the forum. The situation is definitely not pleasant, although the worst thing anyway seems to be that AH has problems even after the fix.
