Piranha Bytes Comments on Gothic Remake; New RPG to be Announced Soon
In the latest announcement addressed to the fans, Piranha Bytes shared information about its next RPG project, and also commented on the slowly emerging complete remake of Gothic.
German studio Piranha Bytes provided the fans with the latest information about plans for the near future. The developer, which was bought by THQ Nordic in the first half of this year, is now to be completely absorbed in the development of another RPG. However, the first official details about the project will be announced only in 2020. To dispel any doubts, the devs also noted that they are not involved in any way in the preparation or development of remake of Gothic, a game originally released by the studio in 2001. The team from THQ Nordic Barcelona is responsible for creating the game. Piranha Bytes believes in the Spanish developers and encourages everyone to try out the title's demo and share their opinions in an official online survey.
It is highly probable that the German team is still working on the second part of Elex at the moment. It was unofficially confirmed in 2017, just after the debut of the first part on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Although last year the studio mentioned that they were considering the possibility of creating a fourth Gothic, at the moment this perspective seems very distant, considering the potential arrival of a remake of not only the first, but also the second (and even third) installment of the series.
