Pillars of Eternity 2 is very likely to happen: “We're very interested in a sequel” – says Obsidian
During PAX Prime last weekend Obsidian Entertainment held a panel which was used to discuss a possibility of creating Pillars of Eternity 2. Developers said that they are "very interested in a sequel".
Pillars of Eternity is a huge success for its developer, Obsidian Entertainment, so it’s obvious that players from all over the world want to know if we can expect more adventures in the land of Eora (apart from The White March expansions for the first game). As reported by PC Gamer, the studio decided to answer this question during the panel it held at PAX Prime last weekend.
”We're very interested in a sequel” – said Adam Brennecke, the lead programmer for Pillars of Eternity. ”We own something now and that is huge for us. For an indie developer, to have your own thing – it's fantastic. We can make a sequel and we don't even have to go to a publisher; we hold all the cards now.”
Josh Sawyer also marked how important it is for Obsidian to have their own IP at last. So we can assume the answer is: yes, the creation of Pillars of Eternity 2 is almost certain. But when will it come? We cannot say. For now, the devs are focused on bringing the second part of The White March expansion – it should be available by the end of this year.
