Phasmophobia is one of the most popular horror games. Probably because it is based on simple, but interesting premise. Players enter haunted places to solve the mystery and find the ghost. In most cases, games during their early access period are available exclusively on PC to make introducing patches easier. However, developers from Kinetic Games decided to release their production on consoles early. Not all of them, though.

Phasmophobia – PS4 and Xbox One Release (2024) Explained

Developers from Kinetic Games decided to give a present to players on Halloween. They have prepared a special event and released the game on consoles. Sadly, not all of them. If you are an owner of PS4 or Xbox One, we have bad news for you, the game will not be released on the previous generation.

At least it seems that way. Yesterday’s premiere of Phasmophobia on consoles was only for current gen devices – PS5, Xbox Series X and S and PSVR2. There is no information on PS4, Xbox One or Switch debut. We can assume that developers decided that at this point supporting the game on all platforms will not be a good idea.

Keep in mind that console release means that creators will have to patch Phasmophobia on different devices simultaneously, as the game is still in early access. Supporting additional platforms would make their work even more difficult. There is a small chance that after 1.0 developers will decide to share the horror with the previous generation, but it might be too restrictive in the long term. So, I would not get my hopes up.
