Perfect Dark Lost Another Key Developer
Director has left the team working on the Perfect Dark reboot. Earlier studio The Initiative lost the game's chief designer.
We have disturbing news for players awaiting the release of Perfect Dark, a reboot of a classic FPS brand. Its director has left the team working on this project.
Perfect Dark loses another key developer
Dan Neuburger, the director responsible for Perfect Dark at The Initiative has left the team.
- The developer's departure was discovered thanks to his profile on LinkedIn.
- He resigned last month, but the fact was not made public at the time.
- Neuburger spent over three years at The Initiative. Previously, he worked at Crystal Dynamics, among others, on the latest installments of Tomb Raider.
- This is not the only departure of a key developer from The Initiative. Last year the team dealing with Perfect Dark lost Drew Murray, who was the game's lead designer.
It is unclear how these departures will affect the project. A number of veterans is still working at The Initiative, including former Crystal Dynamics boss Darrell Gallagher.
The new Perfect Dark has been announced in December 2020. After that the project went off the radar. It is worth adding that a few months ago Crystal Dynamics was hired to help with the game, which may suggest that the work did not proceed as planned.
The game itself is coming to PC, Xbox Series X and S, and no planned release date has been revealed at this time.
