Paradox Interactive Raises Game Prices
Paradox Interactive intends to increase the prices of its games and DLCs in some countries. How much should we expect?
A few days ago,Paradox Interactive announced that starting February 1, 2023 will raise the prices of its games and DLC in certain regions. We learned about this from an announcement published by Mattias Rengstedt, the Swedish company's new head of sales.
- "Constant changes in the currency market" were cited as the reason. Paradox wants to maintain a sort of golden mean between fair prices for all players and sound business strategy.
- Similar adjustments are also to be made in subsequent years - always at the beginning of February, as "it is good practice to make such changes in a recurring time frame."
How big increases can be expected? In some regions they should not be huge. In some others, like Argentina or Turkey - there they can exceed even 300%.
- "Moderate price increases" will occur in Brazil, Colombia, India, Bhutan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Russia.
- In the UK (and its dependent territories), Norway, Poland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, on the other hand, we can expect "smaller increases."
Interestingly, in Peru, Costa Rica and Singapore, not only will the prices not increase, but they are to be "moderately reduced." Why? Because Paradox's analysis has supposedly shown that in these regions the cost of the company's games is currently higher than its accepted standards.
It is worth mentioning that mainly the prices of older games will be adjusted.
- Consequently, they will not apply to, for example, the recently issued Victoria 3.
- The same is true for pre-orders - if, for example, you pre-ordered Stellaris: Overlord for PS4 or XOne, you won't have to pay extra.
