Palworld Lost 1.3M Players in 2 Weeks. Devs Lacking Manpower
Palword is still on top, but the sandbox's popularity has begun to drop dramatically. Meanwhile, the developers are urgently looking for people to work on the best-selling production.
No production can stay at the top indefinitely and although a drop in the rankings is inevitable, its further fate is determined by whether the creators were prepared for the fall. Pocketpair studio, whose hit game Palworld recently lost as many as 1.3 million users on Steam, has to face this problem.
The popularity of Palworld is decreasing, but the game still holds a great position.
According to information available on the SteamDB page, at its peak (data from January 28, 2024), the title could boast over 2.1 million concurrent players. Currently, this number oscillates around 700,000, although it has also managed to go below the barrier of 400,000 people (February 9, 2024).
As I mentioned before, the decline itself was inevitable, but the creators might be worried about the fact that it happened so quickly. Even more so if we compare it to the situation of PUBG: Battlegrounds . The work of PUBG Studios impressed in 2018 with its popularity, which it was able to maintain for several months.
On the other hand, SteamDB data shows that Palword is still among the most played titles on Steam, currently second only to the shooter Counter-Strike 2 . Moreover, this list does not include results from Xbox and Game Pass, where the production also had a great debut.
The creators of Palworld are urgently looking for employees.
Let's forget about the numbers and take a look at what's happening in the Pocketpair camp. As reported by the editors of the PC Gamer portal - citing the studio's entries on the X website - the creators of Palword are urgently looking for new employees .
Interestingly, the Japanese developer needs people with experience with any engine. However, the most sought after are candidates for positions related to planning and engineering. So it's not unlikely that Pocketpair studio wants to respond quickly to the situation described above.
It is worth emphasizing that Palword is still in production, remaining in the early access phase since January 19. According to plans, this title should debut in 2025 on PC and Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X consoles.
