Update
Blizzard has released a new trailer, fully dedicated to Kiriko - the new character of Overwatch 2. You can watch the footage below:
Original message (September 9, 2022)
The release of the early version of Overwatch 2 - sequel to the popular FPS hero-shooter - is fast approaching. However, this does not prevent fans from coming up with more theories and concerns. The latter recently revolved around access to heroes as part of the premium battle pass.
Kiriko - a new character
It all started with a video on YouTube about a new character in the game, named Kiriko. Author of the publication, user Kuriboh cervantes, showed the video, which featured the new hero from Overwatch 2. The video was quickly taken down, but users managed to take screenshots. You can see some of them below:
Unfortunately, we don't know any details except that it will be the game's 35th playable character.
Blizzard denies rumors of premium pass
An almost identical leak (also already taken down) also occurred via the Blizzard's official store. The information said that this is to be the first support hero that we will be able to unlock with a premium pass. This would mean dividing players into paying and non-paying users, which did not escape the attention of fans on Twitter. Yesterday evening Jon Spector - who oversees the Overwatch brand - has decided to debunk rumors about the system for unlocking new heroes. You can read the announcement below:
We will be able to unlock all new heroes for free. However, the representative does not exclude the influence of a premium pass, which could speed up the process of acquiring characters.
Overwatch 2 will come out in early access on October 4, 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch. The PvP mode will use a free-to-play model, but the co-op mode announced for the future will likely be paid. The game will not feature lootboxes. The title is also expected to be supported for years and will "replace" the first Overwatch. Recently, the Internet also heard the news, according to which Blizzard is pricing itself highly, so that the amounts for a single skin can reach up to 40-50 USD. It is possible that the second installment will stir up the market for online shooters.
