Optimizing Games on Unreal Engine 5 Has Become Such Challenge That Specialized Studios Have Emerged to Help With It
It turns out that optimizing games on Unreal Engine 5 causes such problems for devs that some of them decide to hire studios that specialize in it to help them.
Unreal Engine 5 provides stunning visuals, but it's no secret that this engine presents developers with significant performance challenges. There is probably no better proof of this than the fact that there are studios specializing in optimizing games based on this technology.
One such team is Tanglewood Games, which includes many former Epic Games employees.
- We are writing about this because thanks to a recent interview we learned that the RockFish Games studio used the services of this company when porting the Everspace 2 game from Unreal Engine 4 to UE5.
- Only Epic Games offers support to developers for game optimization, but it's evident that this isn't always enough, and some teams require extra assistance - specifically from studios like Tanglewood Games.
Some fans of the recently launched game Gray Zone Warfare wish that the Madfinger studio, responsible for the title, would consider using the services of Tanglewood Games or a similar company, as the game's performance on Unreal Engine 5 leaves much to be desired.
Epic Games is continuously working to improve the optimization of its engine. Version 5.4 of Unreal Engine was released at the end of last month, with the most significant changes including performance improvements aimed at helping game developers achieve 60 frames per second.
Version 5.4 of Unreal Engine was made publicly available in April, but Fortnite development teams have been using its features for some time now. This engine edition powers Chapter 5 of the game, along with extra attractions available in it, including Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival, and LEGO Fortnite. It's also known that the impressive trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was created on UE 5.4.
