One Piece Anime is Going on a Break. Hiatus Will Last Till April 2025
The One Piece anime is on hiatus. However, Toie Animation has prepared something for anime fans, so we have nothing to worry about.
The One Piece anime is going on hiatus until April 2025. The current arc, Egghead Island, will continue on March 30, 2025. According to Toei Animation, the break is meant to improve the quality of the ongoing story arc. Usually, the One Piece anime airs on every Sunday, so many anime watchers may be disappointed, but the hiatus is for a good reason and Toei have something special for us in the store.

One Piece anime hiatus
During a special live-stream event, One Piece News #1, Toei Animation announced that the Egghead Island Arc won't return until April 2025. The studio wants to give its animators time to “recharge,” as the anime has been airing regularly on a weekly basis for quite some time. Given the current high level of animation quality, this break could be beneficial, possibly leading to more epic fights on the scale of the Aokiji vs. Garp clash (you can watch a clip of the fight below).
However, the next episode, airing this Sunday, will be called “One Piece Fan Letter Special.” This episode will celebrate the anime’s 25th anniversary and include some new footage of the Straw Hat crew.
New One Piece anime “remaster”
After the “One Piece Fan Letter Special,” Toei will release a special edition of the Fish-Man Island Arc. This "remaster" will feature updated visuals, new filters, and more condensed episodes. The remastered Fish-Man Island Arc will air over the next few months, with a total of 25 episodes. To refresh your memory, the Fish-Man Arc takes place just after the two-year time skip, during which the Straw Hats refined their skills and abilities. The arc showcased the results of their training, and now we’ll get to see it with refreshed visuals.
What about the manga?
For now, the One Piece manga is not going on hiatus. It continues to be released weekly, with occasional one-week breaks. The current arc, Elbaf Island, is just getting started, and Eiichiro Oda is laying the foundation for the storyline. This means we’re still at the beginning of the arc, and given that some of the longest arcs in the series, like the Wano Country Arc, lasted up to 149 chapters, we have something to wait for.
