Office 2021 Launches; Here's are the Changes
Microsoft Office 2021 was released today and it brings a lot of changes such as a refreshed look, night mode and support for the ODF 1.3 format.
Windows 11 hit the market today, and Microsoft Office 2021, the next iteration of the popular office suite, debuts at the same time. In connection with this we got a list of novelties, prices and editions of the set.
What's new in Microsoft Office 2021
The first, and visible at first glance, novelty is that Office 2021 will offer is a refreshed look. Microsoft has decided to use Monoline icons, which are supposed to make the interface look simpler and clearer. In addition, there will be a full-fledged dark mode, which will automatically adjust to the system settings and change depending on the hour.

It has been decided to implement Microsoft Search into the package. Thanks to this will be able to find the issues we need from the level of dedicated app. Support for the ODF 1.3 format was also added and the performance of the entire package was improved.
Changes also affected the individual programs in the package. Excel 2021 will offer support for dynamic tables that speed up the execution of calculations. There will also be three new features:
- XLOOKUP - helps you find things in a table or selected range;
- LET - lets you to assign a name to result of a calculation;
- XMATCH - finds a specific item in a table or selected range and indicates its relative position.
PowerPoint 2021 will introduce recreation of handwriting and improved recording capabilities of presentations with additional elements, such as a microphone. Outlook 2021 will enable us to write messages using handwriting. There will also be a translator that will display translated messages.
My short adventure with the new version of Office
I am a Microsoft 365 subscriber and today, when I first launched Word, I saw a message saying that I have the opportunity to try out the new version of the package. Unfortunately, I did not have this opportunity, because the slider, which was to activate it, simply did not work.
Variants and prices of Microsoft Office 2021
Office 2021 is a package bought as a one-time license for use. It is offered in two variants:
- Home and Student - gives access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Teams and allowing for their non-commercial use. You can purchase the package for about $149.99.
- Home and Business - gives access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams and Outlook and allowing for commercial use. This set is available for about $249.99.
People who are not interested in purchasing Microsoft Office 2021 can use the subscription variant called Microsoft 365. It will also feature all the changes described above.
