Obsidian’s Project Louisiana: Pillars of Eternity II?
Quite a tease, aren't they? The team at Osidian are about to announce something called Project Louisiana. Is this Pillars of Eternity II or Fallout 4: New Orleans?
Obsidian Entertainment started teasing something called Project Louisiana, which has now got its own forums. This obviously is a placeholder name for the studio’s next project, but the question is what that might be. We know that Obsidian was supposed to make another Pillars of Eternity, but is that it? Before we jump at any conclusions, let’s take a look at the clues we’ve got so far.
First, the studio shared an image with a pipe and a wheat stalk (remember what Eder, one of the companions in Pillars of Eternity, used to chew?) and the statement: “I used to dream that when my god came back, he would forgive us.That’s the trouble with dreams. Sooner or later, we all have to wake up.” This really does point in the direction of Pillars of Eternity II, doesn’t it? Even more so when we take into consideration the riddle with “Pillary-looking” symbols, which fans are trying to solve in this thread on Obsidian forums.
On the other hand, the very name Project Louisiana makes us think of Fallout. Back in 2015, a project called Fallout: New Orleans was spotted in EUIPO, registered by an anonymous party, but it was quickly removed. Could Project Louisiana be another Fallout game set in New Orleans? Remember that Obsidian had previously made the successful Fallout: New Vegas, which turned out to be even better than Fallout 3. It would be logical at this point to trust them with a standalone story built on Fallout 4 mechanics. Either way, let’s wait for an official confirmation.
