Obsidian is Looking For People to Work on High-budget RPG
Obsidian Entertainment is looking for new developers to work on a mysterious high-budget RPG. The game is to be powered by Unreal Engine 4, have a multiplayer mode, and its action will be presented from the perspective of the third and first-person.
Obsidian Entertainment is currently preparing for the upcoming launch of The Outer Worlds, which is scheduled for October 25, this year. For many months we have known that the team has also been working on several projects that are still undisclosed, which warm up the imagination of the developer's fans. Recently published job advertisements by Obsidian shed light on at least one of them.
The company is currently looking for twelve new specialists who will join its team of more than two hundred people. Experienced scriptwriters, graphic designers, as well as programmers and designers of UI and gameplay systems can find employment. They are all supposed to be working on high-budget RPGs from AAA segment, the action of which is to be presented from the perspective of the third and first-person. The title will be based on Unreal Engine 4 (like The Outer Worlds) and will most likely have a variable day and night cycle. As far as the combat mode is concerned, it is intended to offer the possibility of skirmishes both in close quarters and at a distance. What is important, the devs are also looking for a network programmer who will take care of the foundations of multiplayer mode.
New projects of Obsidian will be co-financed by Microsoft, which last year became the owner of the studio. For the first time in its history, the team was given the opportunity to work in a very comfortable environment, not worrying too much about finances and available resources, while having almost full creative control over the games they make. Microsoft hopes that proven and award-winning developers will diversify and make its catalog of exclusive games for PCs and Xbox more attractive. Many fans expect that one of Obsidian's mysterious works will be the sequel to The Outer Worlds. However, we will have to wait at least until next year's official presentation of Xbox One's successor for the first solid information about the new titles.
