Nvidia will release the first graphics cards in lithography 7nm in 2020
Information on Nvidia's implementation of a technological process in 7nm lithography for its graphics cards has appeared on the web. According to them, the first products of this company in 7nm lithography will appear not earlier than in 2020.
According to the publishing house of Japanese company Mynavi, Nvidia has chosen Samsung's 7nm EUV lithographic process for its next-generation GPUs. The 7nm lithography is to be used in the successors of RTX 2XXX cards based on the Turing architecture, and the likely name of the new architecture is Ampere. Interestingly, it has been speculated earlier that Nvidia's weaker mainstream solutions will be named, and Volta's architecture will be the rightful successor to Turing technology. It seems, however, that Nvidia is planning to give up the code name Volta completely and all 7nm products will be released under the Ampere name. The first GPUs based on this technology are expected to appear on the market in 2020 at the earliest.
It seems that AMD will beat Nvidia in terms of the time it takes to introduce the 7nm process in its graphics cards. We would like to remind you that the first GPU from AMD based on 7nm Navi architecture should be released in the summer of 2019. However, will the cards based on it be able to compete with the new Nvidia solution or at least with the current RTX? We will probably see this in about half a year.
