Elden Ring Devs Working on New Game; What Will it be?
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and Armored Core 6 are not the only current FromSoftware projects. The Dark Souls developers are working on one more game.
The LinkedIn profile of Kenneth Khan - director at FromSoftware - posted an entry regarding an unannounced game. It is supposed to be in development from January 2022. What could it be?
Certainly not a DLC for Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree has been announced four weeks ago. Admittedly, it is not on the list, but that seems unlikely.
Instead, it has the upcoming Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, on which Chan serves as co-director. So what could this unannounced project be?
In an already cited June 2020 interview for 4gamer.net, Hidetaka Miyazaki - president and chief director of FromSoftware - revealed that in the medium to long term, he would like to create a fantasy game with a higher degree of abstraction than that characterized by the studio's previous works. It can be assumed that this is the unannounced project spotted on Kenneth Chan's profile.
However, is it a sequel to an already existing series - such as Elden Ring 2? Or maybe a completely new IP? We will not learn the answers to these questions soon.
It is worth adding that FromSoftware used to work on several games simultaneously. In 2016, the Japanese developer was taking on "three and a half" games (not counting the DLC for Dark Souls III). They turned out to be Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Elden Ring, Armored Core VI and Deracine (that's the "half" one).
