No Man's Sky Prism Update Goes Live

No Man's Sky received another major update. Version 3.5 (dobbed Prism) is primarily a number of visual improvements, but also a handful of new features such as the ability to tame flying animals.

Normandy's visit to the world of No Man's Sky was a nice break from the typical big updates delivered by Hello Games. Now, we received another, third major update this year, titled Prism and marked with the number 3.5. Some of the novelties introduced in this version are presented in a video made available by the devs.

Previous huge updates introduced new content or mechanics, thus expanding the gameplay. However, the devs went in a different direction with Prism. Hello Games' team refreshed No Man's Sky's visuals. The developers have significantly beautified some biomes and caves, as well as particle and weather effects. Some of the animals also received real fur, and the sky is much more starry than before. Along with these and other visual changes comes an improved interface for modifying the player avatar's appearance and various improvements to the photo mode. You can find a lot of comparisons of NMS in its old and new clothes on the game's official website.

Although more beautiful visuals are Prism's main attraction, the devs did not forget about adding new gameplay features. From now the players can tame many more animals, including flying species, which can finally act as mounts. Along with the weather effects, there are special rewards for pilots willing to risk checking out dangerous storms (or meteor showers). There's also a synthesis lab on the Cosmic Anomaly, an option to create custom playlists, and improved drum synthesizer, etc. The full list of changes can be found on the game's official website.
