Hello Games shared details of the upcoming update for No Man's Sky. Patch 3.10, known as Next Generation Update, will be developed mainly for next-gen consoles. The PlayStation 5 version will debut on November 12 and Xbox Series X/S on November 10. The patch will also be released on PC. Below is a trailer for the update and a handful of details on the attractions prepared by the creators.
While working on the 3.10 update, developers from Hello Games worked mainly on No Man's Sky's graphics and the content of the worlds we visit. As promised by the devs, thanks to it we will see much more rocks and fungi on the planets and much denser vegetation. Moreover, individual objects will be able to boast higher resolution textures and more complicated geometry. The same applies to the bases constructed by players, which will become larger and more complex.
In addition, the devs will improve the system of lighting and shadows, quality of volumetric effects or finally increase the draw distance. This is not the end of the story, as the developers will enable PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S owners to import their saved game data from previous generation consoles. In addition, the multiplayer mode will be upgraded to allow 32 people to play simultaneously (and in cross-play).
On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, No Man's Sky will run at 4K and 60 fps. Xbox Series S owners will be able to choose whether they prefer to play in native resolution and 30 fps, or whether they prefer 60 fps gameplay at the expense of lower resolution and visual quality. Console's SSDs will make jumping between planetary systems up to ten times faster than on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. What's more, on PlayStation 5 No Man's Sky will take advantage of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers from the DualSense controller and 3D audio technology, as well as PlayStation VR goggles (thanks to backwards compatibility).
