Nintendo's Performance is Beyond Words; the Japanese are Unrivaled
Nintendo has shared the results of Switch sales and games developed for the console. The figures are impressive.
- Nintendo has shared the Switch's sales results.
- The console has sold more than 111 million units.
- The company's exclusives also boast unrivaled results.
This February, Nintendo boasted that Switch sales had surpassed the dizzying 100 million units. Since then, however, that number has risen even further, as evidenced by the latest financial report published by the company.
Switch continues to sell
The document contains information that by June 30,this year, Nintendo Switch had sold 111.08 million units. In the three months alone (from the end of March to June 30), 3.43 million consoles were delivered to customers.
In addition, more than 41 million copies of various Switch games were also sold during the period. A sizable contribution to this result was made by the April's Nintendo Switch Sports, which recorded sales of 4.84 million copies alone.
Nintendo also shared a list of the 10 best-selling frist-party games on Nintendo Switch. This means titles that debuted only on this console.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 46.82 million
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons - 39.38 million
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 28.82 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 27.14 million
- Pokemon Sword / Pokemon Shield - 24.50 million
- Super Mario Odyssey - 23.93 million
- Super Mario Party - 18.06 million
- Pokemon Brilliant Diamond / Pokemon Shining Pearl - 14.79 million
- Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! / Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee! - 14.66 million
- Ring Fit Adventure - 14.54 million
The list clearly shows that Nintendo is unrivaled in terms of exclusive sales results. Even the "weakest" selling title among the above ten games recorded a result of more than 14 million copies sold.
By comparison, the absolute best-selling PS4 exclusive title is Marvel's Spider-Man. This game managed to achieve 20 million copies sold. That's more than twice as many as the Switch's biggest hit, i.e. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
