Nintendo Gives Safety Warning Ahead of Nintendo Switch Sports Launch

With Nintendo Switch Sports set to release on Friday, Nintendo remembers the damage caused when the original Wii Sports was released and tweeted out a friendly reminder to be careful.

The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch Sports releases this week and will be the spiritual successor to the surprising hit Wii Sports that launched with the Wii in 2006. Back then the various sports games were often bookended by reminders to wear the wrist strap and make sure there is nothing breakable nearby. But those warnings weren’t enough to save every TV back in the mid-2000s.

Thankfully, the Joy-Con is a much smaller and lighter controller than the Wii Remote was, so that should help, but it can’t hurt to be cautious. Nintendo recently tweeted out a warning to its users (thanks to NintendoLife for the translation) to make sure they wear the Joy-Con wrist straps and ensure there is plenty of space around the player.

This warning comes just days before Nintendo Switch Sports releases on April 29th, giving players access to classic sports like Bowling and Tennis, along with Volleyball, Soccer, and more. Much like the original Wii Sports, this game will likely encourage Switch owners to stand up from the couch, which, while certainly healthier in the long run, does introduce more immediate hazards that most games don’t have to worry about.

Will you be trying out Nintendo Switch Sports? What sport seems the most interesting? Leave a comment below letting us know your thoughts!
