NFS Unbound Without Popular Mode but Time Trials Will Return
Less than a month remains until the release of the next installment of the iconic racing game series Need for Speed. Unfortunately, Unbound - for that is the name of EA's latest work - will lack drag races. Instead, we will receive time trials.
Need for Speed Unbound is almost in the final stretch before its December release. As a result, fans of the iconic racing game series have been receiving regular news about Electronic Arts' game for the past few weeks. After several promising announcements, however, comes a somewhat disappointing piece of news.
One gamer reached out to EA employee Jeff Braddock (Global Community Manager) to ask whether Unbound - like several previous installments of NFS - will feature drag competitions (as a reminder: they consist in covering a straight stretch of road or track as quickly as possible).
Unfortunately, fans of this type of duels will have to swallow a bitter pill, because the developers have not provided for such a form of fun in the upcoming game (via Reddit).
Admittedly, it won't be a novelty, as Heat also did not have drag racing. However, given that we had this type of competition in both parts of Underground, Most Wanted, ProStreet or NFS from 2015, such an absence will once again be strongly noticed by longtime fans of the series.
Perhaps fans of fast driving will be soothed by the knowledge that Unbound will see the return of the well-known Time Trials. As the name suggests, this competition is based on completing a designated route under a fixed time. In addition, fun will be provided by competitions that are something like drifting.
Finally, let us remind you that Need for Speed Unbound will officially debut on December 2. The item will be available on both PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
