Origin Access Premier and EA Access users have been playing Need for Speed: Heat for several days now. Today, the game has finally been released to other players. The first reviews are better than in the case of the previous two installments.
- Developer: Ghost Games
- Publisher: Electronic Arts
- Genre: Racing game
- Platforms: PC, XONE, PS4
Today was the main launch Need for Speed: Heat, the latest installment in the popular racing series from Electronic Arts. We're writing "main" because Electronic Arts released the title three days ago, but only to Origin Access Premier subscribers. However, today the rest of the players can join the game. Need for Speed: Heat is available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
A lot of reviews have already appeared in the web, so we can assess whether the game delivers. The PlayStation 4 version currently has an average rating of 74% on Metacritic. This is not an extremely impressive result, but it should be mentioned that it is much higher than in the case of the two previous installments: 2017 Need for Speed: Payback (61%) and 2015 Need for Speed (66%).
Overall, reviews have praised the performance, driving model and rich tuning options. The game does not introduce any new solutions, but it is a successful combination of ideas from previous installments. Problems with artificial intelligence, poor storyline and a small variety of challenges are criticised.
