Next Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear update to fix bugs and remove controversial content

Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear players expressed their disappointment caused by the amount of bugs in the game as well as its controversial content. Beamdog promises to fix these issues soon.

Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear had a bumpy start as fans reported multiple bugs and character transfer problems. Beamdog addressed the critical comments in an official statement on their forums, saying that as much as they appreciate the constructive feedback – both positive and negative – they won’t tolerate personal attacks on members of the team. The developer also promised to patch up the issues of Siege of Dragonspear as quickly as possible. Without going into much detail: the next game update will hopefully solve problems in multiplayer.

Apart from this, a couple of controversies arouse around the Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition expansion. Fist of all, the developer admitted they have made a mistake, concerning a transgender character. They wrote:

“We’ve received feedback around Mizhena, a supporting character who reveals she is transgender. In retrospect, it would have been better served if we had introduced a transgender character with more development. This is a lesson we will be carrying forward in our development as creators and we will be improving this character in a future update.”

Finally, Beamdog decided to remove an ethically controversial joke made by Minsc the Barbarian that evidently parodies a Gamergate slogan. They wrote:

“Minsc has a line which generated controversy. Looking back on the line, we agree with the feedback from our community, it has nothing to do with his character and we will be removing the line.”

The update is promised to come out in “the near future”.
