New Silent Hill in the Works? Composer Teases Sequel [UPDATED]
Akira Yamaoka, the author of soundtracks for the Silent Hill series (and, more recently, The Medium) doesn't complain about lack of work. During a recent interview he revealed that his next project is something „the fans are hoping to hear about”.
Update
The hostsof the Al Hub channel have commented on the issue of removing the interview with Akira Yamaoka in a post on Twitter. They informed that they were asked to remove the material and that they agreed to this request. Most likely, it has to do with the information regarding the latest production in which the composer takes part.
Original message
The revival of the Silent Hill series resurfaces every now and then, but so far no breakthrough on a new installment of the iconic series has appeared. The last attempt to bring the franchise back to life was the promising Silent Hills project (teased by the famous P.T demo), but it was canceled and fans of the franchise were left with nothing.
Akira Yamaoka - the composer of the soundtrack for the previous instalments in the series, as well as the recent The Medium, gave fans of hope that something will move in the matter. In an interview for Al Hub channel on YouTube, Yamaoka revealed that he's working on a new project, which will be announced this summer and will be "something that fans are hoping to hear about". Of course, this is not a binding declaration or an official statement, but these words were enough to stir the imagination of gamers. Even more interesting is the fact that at the time of writing these words, the interview with Yamaoka is not available, and the video has been marked as private, which may suggest that the Japanese composer accidentally "spilled" too much. It's also possible that the devs are playing games with fans in this way, giving them clues.
If the video is uploaded again as public, it will be available below:
If a new Silent Hill is in fact being made, its development is unlikely to be handled by one of the fathers of the series, Keiichiro Toyama, who is currently working on an action adventure game with horror elements with his newly founded Bokeh Game Studio.
The above scraps of information prevent is from making too far-reaching assumptions, but the hearts of fans of the series skipped a beat even hearing such a small clue. After all, the last full-fledged installment of the series - Silent Hill: Downpour - was released in 2012.
