A new gameplay from the next installment of The Settlers strategy game series has appeared on the web. The material, which lasts more than 16 minutes, is available on the channel of the German magazine PC Games and was enriched with a commentary by the editor, describing the basic rules of the game (English subtitles are available). You can see the video below.
The video shows a fairly typical gameplay fragment in the Skirmish mode - we see the beginnings of the existence of a small village, as well as fragments showing a battle for a large fortress. In The Settlers we play on randomly-generated maps, based on parameters defined by the player (during the construction process they are divided into hexes, but they remain invisible for most of the time). The creators decided to opt for such a solution to provide the game with a longer life span. In the case of a strategic game of this type it seems to be a good idea, all the more so because the technology responsible for creating the locations is supposedly so good that they give the impression of being handmade.
According to the PC Games journalist, the game is quite complicated and definitely looks like a true installment of the series, which should please its fans. Graphics (the game uses the Snowdrop Engine, known from the series of looter shooters The Division) is also very impressive. The whole thing looks pretty good.
The Settlers will be released in 2020, only on PCs (Uplay and Epic Games Store).
