New Game of Thrones Game is Out on PC and It's Great

Last night, A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition, a digital adaptation of a popular board game from Fantasy Flight Games, debuted on Steam. Such launches usually pass without much echo, but this case is different and not only because of the use of a high-profile license that is Game of Thrones.
A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition met with a very warm reception. On Steam ,87% of user ratings are positive. Players praise the game for faithfully reproducing the rules and atmosphere of the original. The tutorial as well as the interface also collect excellent feedback. The tabletop original is famous for its excellent mechanics, but even its biggest fans admit that it is a complicated and difficult game to master. The PC adaptation has no such problem. The tutorial easily familiarizes us with the rules, and while playing, the game makes it easier to get engaged in the game. What is important is that it is achieved without simplifying the mechanics.
The players' admiration on Steam is complemented by Kotaku. According to its editor, this is the first truly good official video game based on this franchise ("official", as for many years fans have been playing excellent A Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings II). He emphasizes that the high quality of the tabletop original did not guarantee a good adaptation, as many productions of this type failed by offering digital versions that were nothing more than a simple recreation of the original board game. In the case of A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition developers avoided this mistake. They recreated the rules, but dressed them lika a typical PC strategy game, with attractive graphics and animated units.
What's more, the developers have prepared a large set of stand-alone scenarios, which make it easier to get familiar with the mechanics, while offering interesting challenges. All this makes the PC version worth buying even for the owners of the original.
