New Coca-Cola Flavor Launch in Fortnite

Coca-Cola has created a new flavor that allegedly tastes like... pixels.

The world's most famous beverage brand is showing how important a consumer group video gamers are to the company. Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte is the latest edition of the carbonated beverage, supposedly tasting like... pixels. It won't appear on store shelves until May 2, but before that, it will hit gamers via Fortnite.

Working with gaming organization PWR, Coca-Cola is responsible for Pixel Point, a new island in the game. The creation of a themed, limited edition drink is the culmination of this collaboration.

This begs one fundamental question - what do pixels taste like? Oana Vlad, Chief Strategy Officer of Coca-Cola, explains:

"(...) we wanted to create an innovative taste inspired by the playfulness of pixels, rooted in the experiences that gaming makes possible. Just as pixels power digital connection, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte brings people together to share moments of Real Magic.”

It seems that the taste of "is the smallest addressable element in a raster image" (as the pixel is defined by Wikipedia) will remain a mystery until it appears in the real world.

Collaboration with Epic Games is part of Coca-Cola Creations or "a new brand expression". So far, it has included the launch of a beverage that tastes like starlight.

Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte is expected to be sold in sets containing two cans - one to drink and one to collect. Most likely it will be available for purchase only in the United States.
