New Chara in Genshin Impact Earned the Devs a Lot of Money
Genshin Impact is going on strong. The recent debut of the new heroine encouraged players to spend a lot of money, making MiHoYo's title the best-selling iOS game in eight countries.
Genshin Impact may have many critics, but apparently they do not have much impact on the game's popularity - or at least its earnings. Daniel Ahmad from Niko Partners revealed that October 21 was a record-breaking day for the MiHoYo's game. On that day, the title became the best-selling game on App Store in eight countries (including the US and China) and placed second in Japan.
It's easy to see why players decided to spend more money on Genshin Impact. The Sparkling Steps event has been underway since October 20, introducing a "new" character: the explosive pyromancer Klee. Previously, we could only control her as part of one of the quests (The Mystery of the Girl in Red's Treasure), but until November 9, a special banner will be available, enabling us to get Klee as a playable heroine.
Of course, there is still the question of the chance to draw the desired hero: for five-star heroes, it is only 0.6%. The creators have implemented the mechanic to guarantee getting a character of this level, but this requires 90 Wishes, and even then we might not get specifically Klee. Only after another 90 wishes we can be sure to unlock the cute pyromancer. For the context: a package of 8080 primogems translates into 50 draws and costs $100. Yes, you can get the currency without paying real money, but even superhuman grind would not be enough to get 8 thousand primogems in a month, let alone two weeks. So if you're not lucky and you want to add Klee to your team, you'll have to reach for your wallet.
