New BattleTech details emerge. Kickstarter launching today
Harebrained Schemes’ BattleTech is hitting Kickstarter today. This sci-fi turn-based strategy about mechs is revisiting the well known universe, but only with fans’ help.
BattleTech Kickstarter campaign is going live today as announced a couple of weeks back. In the meantime, Harebrained Schemes talked on Twitch about the project, revealing that the game has already been in pre-production for a few months (as noticed on Reddit). BattleTech is going to be built on Unity 5 Engine for 3D graphics, enhanced lighting and better tools for Multiplayer coding. Depending on how well the crowdfunding goes, the game should offer several play modes – both single and multiplayer – featuring turn-based clashes of battle mechs, armored vehicles and, perhaps, infantry. Player vs. AI Skirmish Mode is guaranteed, but a solo campaign and full-fledged multiplayer come as stretch goals.
Harebrained Schemes promise this will be a single purchase game, so no microtransactions, but there will be paid expansions. BattleTech is coming exclusively to PC (Windows, Linux) and Mac – no console versions are planned. We will update the news when the crowdfunding campaign goes live. Here are some arts from the game:
