Soulslike Game Inspired by Beksinski and Lovecraft on First Trailer
Independent team at Euclidean Studios is developing Nazralath: The Fallen World - a soulslike game heavily inspired by the Dark Souls series, Planescape: Torment and the works of H.P. Lovecraft and the Polish painter Zdzislaw Beksinski. Check out the first trailer.
Hidetaka Miyazaki, Chris Avellone, H.P. Lovecraft and Zdzislaw Beksinski walk into a bar... They take a table, order something to drink and start a long conversation about art in general. A few people from the independent team at Euclidean Studios listen to their conversation. And so the idea for the game Nazralath: The Fallen World is born.
Or at least it could have been, if the above story wasn't made up.
Inspiration
The fact is, however, that the independent developer, who is working on this title, was heavily inspired by the works of FromSoftware - mainly the Dark Souls series - Planescape: Torment from Black Isle Studios, and the works of Lovecraft and Beksinski. It's hard to say what will ultimately come out of it, because the work is at a very early stage, but it looks interesting. Anyway, watch the trailer and see for yourself.
It's going to be dark
The creators promise a third-person action adventure game focused on the plot, set in a dark, fantastic world - the game is even described by the authors as their "love letter to the occult realms of dark fantasy". Players are told to expect a "compelling narrative," interesting exploration, RPG elements, and an atmosphere with a capital K.
"We think this is a unique and fresh take on the RPG genre, representing a revival of classic values in game design that seem lost in time."
Unreal Engine and Epic Games
Will Nazralath: The Fallen World really turn out to be special? Or will it end up in oblivion, like many other Souls clones? We'll see. The game will use the Unreal Engine technology created by Epic Games. It's not yet known which platforms it will be released on, but it will definitely come out on PC - so we can assume that the release will first take place on Tim Sweeney's platform, and only some time later on Steam.
