Mulan Reviews - Another Disney Hit Inbound
Mulan has positively surprised the critics and the reviews call it Disney's best live-action move in the last few years. This is important news in the context of creating live-action remakes of classic animations.
Disney took its steps in the pandemic market very carefully, and for some time the premiere of their latest film, Mulan, depended on the box office success of Christopher Nolan's Tenet. Now it is known that the company made yet another decision and decided to release their work immediately on Disney+ so that everyone could watch it. However, let's skip the form of distribution for a moment and talk about the quality of the movie itseld - it turns out that critics liked the new interpretation of the story of China's most popular female warrior.

- Kevin Maher, Times - 2/5
The final percentage of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes is 81% with a score average of 7.09/10 (out of 149 opinions - 121 positive, 28 negative). This is a much better result compared to previous live-action versions of well-known animations, such as Dumbo (46% positive reviews) and Alladin (57% positive reviews). Critics have no doubt - Mulan is by far Disney's best live action film of recent years.
It is noted that the work differs from animation in terms of tone and atmosphere. It is a bit more serious, although the plot is still touching. However, fans may have a problem with a small number of jokes (and their mediocrity when they do appear) and a lack of legendary songs. The characters are said to say the lines, but it happens without any background music.
The reviewers agree that the strongest point of the movie is that the action scenes are perfectly executed, both in terms of the scale of the duels and their choreography. They clearly refer to the wuxia trend, the epitome of Chinese warriors. As for the title role of Mulan, we do not have to worry about it. The opinion is that Liu Yifei has done a good job. Unfortunately, things do not look so good with the antagonists.
