Vocation serves as the class system in nearly all Dragon Quest games. The original Dragon Quest 3 featured nine jobs, but the recently released HD-2D remake introduced a new one: the Monster Wrangler. This class lets you capture and train monsters to fight as allies, a feature that first appeared in Dragon Quest 5 and has since been seen in various spin-offs.

Monster Wrangler in Dragon Quest 3 Remake

In the Dragon Quest 3 Remake, Monster Wranglers can recruit certain monsters to fight alongside the party, offering unique abilities and support. There's also a special skill called Animal Instinct, which allows your character to search for friendly monsters in the area. Some monsters will be eager to join you, while others might require a bit more convincing. Keep in mind, not all creatures will be easy to find, you’ll need to search every corner to track them down.

Mechanics like this are also featured in other games, such as the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series, where players can engage in negotiation dialogues with enemies during battles, offering money or items to gain their affinity.

Monster Wrangler can wield:

  1. Axe,
  2. Claws,
  3. Whips.

Their skillset is quite unique, as it revolves around capturing monsters, which is essential for enhancing their effectiveness in battle. By adding more monsters to their collection, the Monster Wrangler can unlock new abilities and strengthen their overall utility in combat.
