Monster Hunter: World Once Again With Over 100,000 Players [Update: Sales Figures]
Monster Hunter: World is enjoying its highest popularity in more than three years. This is due to the announcement of the new installment, or rather to the record-breaking discount Capcom organized for the occasion.
Update
The deal on Steam has come to an end. Apparently, Capcom decided, that this is a good time to announce the current sales of Monster Hunter: World. Here they are: a total of 23 million people have purchased the game on all supported platforms in the nearly 6 years since its release.
At the same time we learned that Monster Hunter Rise found 13 million buyers, and the mobile game Monster Hunter Now has been downloaded 10 million times. Capcom also announced that new information on Monster Hunter: Wilds, the next major installment in the series, will be revealed in the summer.
Original news (January 3)
Monster Hunter: World is back on the list of the most popular games on Steam. Capcom's work currently ranks 20th on the bestseller list. As if that wasn't enough, MHW is being played by more than 100,000 players simultaneously (via SteamDB).
On January 2, at the hottest moment, the game had more than 138,000 Steam users. This is the game's best result since July 2020, and earned it 9th place on the list of the most popular games on Valve's platform.
The reason for the sudden increase in interest is mundane. On PC Monster Hunter: World is currently available at a price of less than $10, the lowest ever in the history of Steam. The deal has been running since December 7, and that's when the game started gaining players. Twelve days later, for the first time in years, MHW was played by more than 100,000 players at once, of which, by the way was reported by the creators. You can purchase the game just as cheaply on Sony and Microsoft consoles.
This is not the only discounted installment of the series. In addition to Iceborne DLC you can also buy Monster Hunter: Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin at reduced prices. These discounts are a gift from the developers, not so much for Christmas, but to celebrate the announcement of a new release: Monster Hunter: Wilds.
In fact, almost every game included in the promotion has gained something thanks to it. Nevertheless, none has enjoyed such great popularity or scored such a huge increase as Monster Hunter: World. Probably this will not change soon: MH: Wild (which is sort of a continuation of World) will not debut until 2025.
