Activision celebrates the success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The franchise's X account published a thank you message to the players. They contributed to setting a "new engagement record" in the refreshed trilogy of Modern Warfare.

Good results and announcement of in-game bonuses

Although the developers boast about record-breaking results, they do not provide any numbers. So we are left to take their word for it, especially since we previously informed on severely overloaded connections on the occasion of the game's preload in the UK.

Sledgehammer Games is talking about a "historic launch." In terms of "player engagement" Modern Warfare 2 was said to beat the results of last year's Modern Warfare 2 and 2019's Modern Warfare.

  1. The announcement also congratulated Treyarch, which is responsible for developing Zombies mode in MW3. According to the information, this is the most engaging third mode in the history of the refreshed Modern Warfare trilogy.
  2. According to Sledgehammer Games, a single player spent more time in the latest installment of Call of Duty than in its predecessors. The situation is similar for those playing the campaign in Modern Warfare 3.
  3. It is worth noting here that the campaign of MW3 is very short; players finish it usually in 3-4 hours, so it can be assumed that there were simply more of them, or they were more involved in the story.

To celebrate these achievements and directly thank the players, the developers will introduce bonuses to the game this weekend - doubling experience, weapon points and Battle Pass experience points.

Interestingly, despite the negative reviews, the majority of players commenting on the developers' post on X are positive about the game's success.

"As for me, this is one of the most enjoyable installments of CoD, which have been released in recent years," writes one X user.

"Best CoD, I've played in a while. Thanks for the amazing communication!," states another user.

Recall - December 6 will mark the start of the 1st season of the game, which will bring, among other things, new maps. Let's also point out that yesterday the latest patch was introduced to the game. Details can be found directly on the game's website.

Sweeping matchmaking under the rug continues

Yesterday there was also an AMA session, during which representatives of Sledgehammer Games answered questions from the fans. One of the most frequently upvoted issues taken up by Reddit users was criticism of matchmaking.

In a question, one user pointed out various problems (e.g., difficult matchmaking with friends due to the level difference, cases of players with high skills specifically "going down" a level below, etc.) and asked for changes. However, he did not live to see a response from Sledgehammer Games, despite the fact that the studio spoke without much resistance during the AMA on the subject of multiplayer (among other things, it promised make improvements to some skins, change the balance of weapons, etc.).

Fatal reviews from experts and players

Although Activision boasts of a record, it must also recognize the harsh voices of gamers. On Steam the title has accumulated almost five thousand reviews so far, but only 27% of them are positive.

The situation is similar on Metacritic. The average rating from critics is 55/100 (62 reviews for the PS5 version) and a modest... 1.8/10 from users (based on 1,363 reviews).

The latest installment of the popular shooter debuted on November 10. The game is available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
