Mod Allowing You to Play Through Entire Elden Ring in Unrestricted Co-op Mode Already Supports Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
The excellent Seamless Co-op mod for Elden Ring got a new version. With it, we can now play through the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion entirely in co-op mode.
On June 20, the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expansion pack was released, and with it came a new update to the basic version of the game. It brought a lot of improvements, but at the same time it broke some mods, including the most important one - the modification Seamless Co-op, which allows you to play the entire campaign in cooperative mode.
The author of the project, LukeYui, rolled up his sleeves and proceeded to quickly update his creation. It didn't take him long and the new version of the mod, numbered 1.7.4, has just been made available for download.

What's new in Seamless Co-op?
The updated release not only provides compatibility with the latest version of Elden Ring, but also with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, allowing you to go through the entire expansion with a group of friends.
The changes to the game's code introduced by the update were so large that LukeYui had to rework Seamless Co-op almost from scratch. Therefore, if you have previously played with this modification, delete the old version before installing the new one. Trying to put the new files into the old project folders will end up with errors.
Commendably, however, the new version is compatible with saves from earlier releases of the mod, so you can easily continue playing after installing the new version.
In addition to providing compatibility with the updated version of Elden Ring and the add-on, the new release of Seamless Co-op also adds for the first time the possibility for enemy players to invade our co-op session, providing the team with extra challenges. Furthermore, improvements to the mod's code have meant that gestures and items gained in conversations are now finally updating correctly for all players, and those present in an instance can load together for optional clashes with the Evergaol boss.
What makes this mod so special?
Seamless Co-op removes the limitations of co-op gameplay in Elden Ring. Normally, co-op in this game takes the form of short invitations, in which other players help us, for example, to defeat a boss, and then we continue the game alone. With this modification, on the other hand, we can go through the entire campaign in a team with other players, as if the game was designed with such an option in mind from the beginning.
To achieve this, a ton of changes have been made. For example, clearing an area of enemies does not send away companions, and all barriers limiting the multiplayer zone have been removed. Players can explore the entire map together, or they can split up. To keep things from getting too easy, the balance of many elements has been reworked and enemies have been strengthened. Importantly, the mod independently disables the anti-cheater system and blocks access to official matchmaking servers, so you won't face a ban. Even a separate game state saving system has been implemented, just for co-op characters.
All in all, Seamless Co-op is an amazing achievement and one of the best mods ever developed for a FromSoftware game. The project, by the way, drew the attention of the team's developers themselves. Elden Ring's lead designer, Hidetaka Miyazaki, recently admitted that Seamless Co-op could become a source of inspiration for his studio's next production.
