Two months after its release, Korean MMO Throne and Liberty is doing well on Steam. The game continues to crank out solid activity results, and the reception of the title has improved strongly since its release.

The release of Throne and Liberty, a free-to-play Korean MMORPG from NCSoft studio, was one of the biggest events of October. So it's worth taking a look at how the game is doing two months after its launch.

Throne and Liberty - activity and reception of players

The number of players has significantly decreased. The activity record, set right after the release, was 326,377 players playing simultaneously on Steam. Yesterday, at the peak of the day, 78,886 people were playing on this platform at the same time, while last Sunday the number was just over 105,000. (On weekends, the results are always higher than during the week).

  1. On the one hand, it can be stated that the game has lost 2/3 of its players, but its situation is not bad at all. Most titles two months after their release achieve significantly worse results than at the time of their launch. This trend is even stronger in the case of free-to-play games, whose free nature makes it easier to check the title right after the premiere. Exceeding 100,000 concurrent players on weekends is a great result, and the game developers have nothing to be ashamed of in this regard.
  2. Interesting things are also happening with the game scores. Right after the release on Steam, the title had only 54% positive reviews. Meanwhile, currently 69% of all reviews on Valve praise Throne and Liberty, and when considering only those from the last 30 days, the share of positive ones is 75%. It's therefore clear that in the two months since its release the title's reception has improved significantly.

The near future of the "great hope of MMO"

The hard work of devs therefore brings fruits. Since the launch day, they have released a series of updates that have greatly improved the technical condition of the game and stabilized the servers. Now the devs can focus on new content. The first thing to be introduced is an expansion of the arsenal of weapons available to players, with spears offering a range of abilities. The update with this content will be released on December 5.

However, this doesn't mean that everything in Throne and Liberty is currently working perfectly.

  1. Among other things, players want to see improved events. Currently, they often happen simultaneously, which means that many people don't have time for all of them.
  2. Fans are also demanding PvP improvements. The gameplay indeed focuses on PvE, but achieving success in the endgame requires equipment, which is very difficult to obtain without fighting other players. As a result, even people not interested in competing in multiplayer are often forced to do so.
  3. There are also complaints that bosses rarely drop good loot, which discourages some players.

As you can see, these issues don't prevent the game from achieving good results, especially since the title is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. However, only two months have passed since the release, and if the developers want to maintain this level of interest, they must quickly respond to the players' feedback.
