Mining Guide in PoE, All Ores (Verisium, Bismuth, Orichalcum) Explained
Are you puzzled by mining mechanic in PoE? We will tell you how to profit from your ores.
Path of Exile is a long-lived game, which changes drastically from update to update. After a long break from it, you may not recognize PoE. The last big update was quite recently and introduced Settlers of Kalguur league. What does it mean? New features! We have written about one of them - Disenchanting. Today is the time to talk about Mining, equally important part of the update.
How to Mine, Mining in PoE explained
First of all, you have to remember that mining is not automatic in PoE. Some players hire workers and think that they will bring them a passive income. It does not work that way. To mine, you have to complete mining encounters and activate ores on maps (mark them), later assign miners to a specific resource in Kingsmarch.
Remember to hire well qualified miners. Keep in mind though that you should pick those workers who have only one specialty, as each level in a job will force you to pay them more. The good thing is that it seems you don’t have to pay miners if they do not actively work. If you are struggling with gold, though, you may want to max the Mining rank. The perk at level 11 gives equal amount of gold to the marked ore value.
How to unlock ores in PoE
There are 5 ores in total. To be able to mine them all you have to rank up your Mining operation at least to level 6:
- Rank 1 unlocks Crimson Iron Ore.
- Rank 2 unlocks Orichalcum Ore.
- Rank 3 unlocks Petrified Amber Ore.
- Rank 4 unlocks Bismuth Ore.
- Rank 6 unlocks Verisium Ore.
Of course, there is rarity among ores. While Crimson Iron is pretty common, Verisium Ore is a rare find. It is a good idea to upgrade Mining to level 9 as soon as possible, it will make rare ores more common.
As it was stated, each ore has to be found on the map and activated. They have their own unlocking mechanics.
- Crimson Iron Ore – defeat all enemies and their spawners to claim this ore.
- Orichalcum Ore – kill demons to get this resource. It gives you a buff, which attacks enemies you targeted with your abilities.
- Petrified Amber Ore – defend the ore, as each enemy’s hit lowers the amount of potential resource.
- Bismuth Ore – gives an elemental hazard to the map. Do it at the end of your playthrough, if you don’t want to deal with this mechanic.
- Verisium Ore – channel the ore as long as you want to get more resources. However, the longer you do that, the greater number of foes appears – a high risk-high reward situation.
